Completion of a birth or postpartum doula training. Training at SDA not required.

How long does mentoring last and where is it held?

There are various packages to choose from-- From 4-hours to 6-months! Sessions are done remotely over Zoom, phone, and/or email. With extended mentoring it’s typically a combination of these.

By enrolling in a class or workshop with Sierra Childbirth Institute (SCI), I understand and agree to the following:

Communication and Confirmation
• Confirmation Email: I will receive a confirmation email once my enrollment and payment are complete.

Attendance Policy
• Full Attendance Required: I must attend all sessions to receive a certificate of attendance. Partial attendance forfeits the certificate and/or CEUs.
• No Make-ups or Refunds: Missed classes or portions of classes cannot be made up. No refunds will be issued for missed sessions.
• If I miss part or all of an in-person class or workshop series, I will be dropped from the course and must attend a new course in full.
o In such cases, I may re-attend via an online course at no additional charge.
o If I wish to return to an in-person course, I must pay the full tuition again.

Payment Policy
• Deposit Enrollments: If I enroll with a deposit, full payment is due within 10 days of the workshop start date.
• Payment Deadline: I will receive an invoice via email. If full payment is not received by the due date, my spot may be forfeited. I can re-enroll in a future workshop after completing payment, subject to a $50 reactivation fee.

Transfers and Fees
• Free First Transfer: If I request a transfer within 2 weeks of my original class/workshop start date, my first transfer is free.
• Additional Transfers or Late Requests: Additional transfers or those made outside the 2-week window are subject to a 10% transfer fee.
• Transfer Credit Validity: All transfer credits are valid for 1 year from the date of the original request.
• Tuition Differences:
o If transferring to a workshop with higher tuition, I must pay the difference before the transfer is confirmed.
o If transferring to a workshop with lower tuition, no partial refunds will be given.
o For continuing education classes, credit transfer eligibility is determined case-by-case.
• No Refund After Transfer: Once a transfer is confirmed, no refunds will be issued if I later cancel.
• Transfers to Others: My enrollment is non-transferable to another person without written approval from SCI.

Workshop Changes by SCI
• In the rare case that SCI must cancel or postpone a class, I will be notified and offered alternative dates.
• SCI is not responsible for any student-incurred expenses (e.g., travel, accommodations) related to cancellations or rescheduling.

In-Person to Online Shift
• If I enroll in an in-person workshop, SCI will make every effort to deliver it in person.
• In rare cases, such as trainer illness, SCI may shift the course to an online format. No refunds will be given, but I may choose to transfer to a future in-person training at no extra cost.

Refunds and Cancellations
• No Refunds: SCI does not offer refunds for any classes or workshops.
• One-Time Transfer Option: If I cancel my enrollment within 2 weeks of the workshop start date, I may transfer my enrollment once to another SCI workshop within 12 months at no extra cost.
• Rescheduled Workshops: In the rare event SCI must reschedule a workshop, no refunds will be given, but I will be offered alternative dates.

Workshop Conduct & Copyright
• Recording: I may not record any portion of the workshop (audio or video).
• Photos: I may take photos only with permission from the trainer and other participants.
• Workshop Materials: I may not reproduce, publish, or distribute workshop manuals or certification packet materials, except as needed for certification (e.g., client evaluation forms). Copyright must remain on all materials.
Certification Requirements
• This course is only one step in the process of becoming a DONA Certified Doula. Further steps are required after the workshop.

Certificate Replacement Requests
• A $50 fee applies for reprinting and mailing a physical certificate of attendance. A $15 fee applies for a digital copy.

I understand the following:

• There are no refunds for classes or workshops, but enrollment can be transferred one time at no extra cost to another workshop at Sierra Childbirth Institute (SCI) within 12 months of the cancellation date if cancellation is made by the student within 2 weeks of the start of the workshop. This no refund policy includes the rare circumstance in which SCI needs to reschedule the workshop to a later date. If SCI cancels the workshop, a full refund will be given.
• If I request to transfer my attendance to an alternate date, my first transfer will be free of charge if requested within 2 weeks of the start of my class/workshop I'm currently enrolled in. For additional transfers or transfers requested outside of the 2-week period, there will be a 10% transfer fee for each transfer requested. Transfer credits will be good for one year from the date my original request was made.
• If I request to transfer my attendance to an alternate date, no partial refunds will be given if I transfer to a doula workshop that has a lower fee. Continuing ed class transfers are assessed case-by-case if credit can be given.
• If I request to transfer my attendance to an alternate workshop that has a higher tuition than the workshop I enrolled into, I will need to pay the additional tuition fee before the transfer can be made.
• If I request a transfer, once my enrollment transfer has been confirmed, no refunds will be given if I decide to cancel my spot.
• I am not able to transfer my spot in a workshop or class to any other person without written approval from SCI.
• If I choose to enroll in a workshop by paying a deposit, the full payment must be completed within 10 days of the workshop start date. After enrollment, I will receive an invoice via email detailing the payment amount and due date. If the full payment is not received by the due date, my spot in the workshop will be forfeited until the full payment is made. In such a case, I may attend a future workshop once my tuition is fully paid, subject to an additional $50 fee.
• I will receive an enrollment confirmation email once I have enrolled and paid for the workshop, confirming my secured space in the training.
• Under the rare situation that SCI needs to cancel or postpone a workshop, class, or event, I will be notified and offered alternative dates. If a workshop is cancelled or postponed, SCI will not be responsible for any fees incurred by the student for cancellations on accommodations or any other personal expenses.
• I will not, under any circumstances, issue or threaten to issue any charge-backs to SCI or to my credit card and/or form of payment (i.e. Stripe, Paypal, etc.) for any reason whatsoever. In the event of a charge-back, SCI reserves its right to report it to the credit bureaus as a delinquent account and not do business with me in the future.
• As a participant of this workshop, I agree to allow the teachers and staff at SCI to do the following:
• Take photographs of the workshop, which may include me, as well as allow the trainer to use these photographs for promotional purposes online and in print.
• Use quotes from my workshop evaluations (which I may fill out anonymously) for promotional purposes online and in print.

I also understand that:
• I may not record the whole or any part of the workshop (audio or video). I may take photographs only with the express permission of the trainer and the participants.
• I may not reproduce, publish, or distribute any materials in the workshop manual unless I leave the copyright printed on each page.
• I may not reproduce, publish, or distribute any materials from the certification packet, other than for the purpose of fulfilling my certification requirements (i.e., copying the evaluation forms for my clients to fill out).
• This course is only one step in becoming a DONA Certified Doula. There are several other steps that must be completed after the workshop to be eligible for certification with DONA.
• I must attend all sessions of the workshop to receive a certificate of attendance. Missing any portion of the workshop will result in forfeiting my certificate of attendance and/or CEUs.
• Missed classes and portions of missed classes cannot be made-up. No refunds will be given for missed classes or portions of missed classes. If I miss attending part of class, or an entire class, or part of or one of the classes of a workshop series (online or in-person), I will be dropped from the course and will need to attend a new course in its entirety. If this occurs, I will be given the option to attend an online class or an online workshop at SCI at no additional charge, but understand I will need to attend the entire workshop and not just the missed portion. If I get dropped for missing part or all of an in-person class or workshop series, I will not be able to attend another in-person course without paying the full tuition again.
• A $50 fee will be charged for a reprint and mailing of the certificate of attendance and a $15 fee for a digital copy of the certificate.
• If I sign up for an in-person training, the intention of SCI is to provide the training in-person. However, if the trainer is feeling ill we may shift the training over to an online workshop. There are no refunds if changes are made for this reason, but if we unexpectedly need to shift to online training, you'll have the option of transferring your registration to any of our future in-person workshop. This is a very rare occurrence, however, trainers do occasionally get ill, and we don't want to pass anything on to our students!

Workshop Conduct & Copyright
• Recording: I may not record any portion of the workshop (audio or video).
• Photos: I may take photos only with permission from the trainer and other participants.
• Workshop Materials: I may not reproduce, publish, or distribute workshop manuals or certification packet materials, except as needed for certification (e.g., client evaluation forms). Copyright must remain on all materials.
Certification Requirements
• This course is only one step in the process of becoming a DONA Certified Doula. Further steps are required after the workshop.

Certificate Replacement Requests
• A $50 fee applies for reprinting and mailing a physical certificate of attendance. A $15 fee applies for a digital copy.
