Sierra Doula Academy (SDA)
Terms & Conditions of Enrollment

By enrolling in a class or workshop with Sierra Doula Academy (SDA), you acknowledge and agree to the following:

Tuition, Refunds & Cancellations

All classes and workshops are non-refundable.

If SDA cancels a workshop, a full refund will be issued. If SDA reschedules or postpones a workshop, refunds will not be provided; however, enrollment may be transferred in accordance with the transfer policy below.

SDA is not responsible for personal expenses incurred by participants, including travel, lodging, childcare, or related costs.

Enrollment Transfers

Participants may transfer their enrollment one time at no additional cost if the request is made at least 14 days before the workshop start date.

Transfer credit is valid for 12 months from the transfer request date

Additional transfers, or transfers requested within 14 days of the workshop start date, incur a 10% transfer fee per transfer

Once a transfer is confirmed, no refunds will be issued if the participant later cancels

Enrollment may not be transferred to another individual without written approval from SDA

If transferring to:

a lower-tuition workshop, no partial refunds are issued

a higher-tuition workshop, the tuition difference must be paid prior to transfer

Transfers for continuing education classes are assessed case by case.

Deposits & Payment Plans

A payment plan option may be available.

Participants may reserve their spot with a non-refundable deposit equal to 50% of tuition, which includes a small administrative fee. The remaining balance is due 10 days before the workshop start date.

An invoice with payment details will be emailed after enrollment.

If the balance is not paid by the due date:

the participant’s spot may be released

the deposit may be applied to a future workshop, subject to a $50 administrative fee, and in accordance with the transfer policy

Attendance & Completion

Full attendance is required to receive a certificate of attendance and/or CEUs.

Missed sessions or partial attendance cannot be made up

No refunds are issued for missed sessions

Missing any portion of a workshop may result in removal from the course

If removed due to absence:

participants may attend a future online workshop at no additional charge

in-person workshops must be retaken in full with full tuition payment

Certificates

Certificates are issued upon successful completion

Reprinted and mailed certificates: $50

Digital certificate copies: $15

Intellectual Property & Recording

Recording (audio or video) of any portion of the workshop is not permitted.

Photography is allowed only with express permission from the trainer and participants.

Workshop materials may not be reproduced, published, or distributed except as required for certification purposes and with copyright notices intact.

Certification Disclaimer

This workshop is one component of DONA certification. Additional requirements must be completed independently to qualify for certification.

Media & Promotional Use

By participating, you grant SDA permission to:

take photographs during workshops that may include you

use anonymized quotes from evaluations and photographs for promotional purposes online and in print

Format Changes

In rare circumstances (such as trainer illness), an in-person workshop may shift to an online format.

No refunds will be issued for format changes. Participants may transfer their enrollment to a future in-person workshop if a format change occurs.

Chargebacks

Participants agree not to initiate chargebacks through credit card companies or payment processors.

In the event of a chargeback, SDA reserves the right to dispute the claim and decline future enrollment.

• Confirmation Email: I will receive a confirmation email once my enrollment and payment are complete.

Attendance Policy
• Full Attendance Required: I must attend all sessions to receive a certificate of attendance. Partial attendance forfeits the certificate and/or CEUs.
• No Make-ups or Refunds: Missed classes or portions of classes cannot be made up. No refunds will be issued for missed sessions.
• If I miss part or all of an in-person class or workshop series, I will be dropped from the course and must attend a new course in full.
o In such cases, I may re-attend via an online course at no additional charge.
o If I wish to return to an in-person course, I must pay the full tuition again.

• Free First Transfer: If I request a transfer within 2 weeks of my original class/workshop start date, my first transfer is free.
• Additional Transfers or Late Requests: Additional transfers or those made outside the 2-week window are subject to a 10% transfer fee.
• Transfer Credit Validity: All transfer credits are valid for 1 year from the date of the original request.
• Tuition Differences:
o If transferring to a workshop with higher tuition, I must pay the difference before the transfer is confirmed.
o If transferring to a workshop with lower tuition, no partial refunds will be given.
o For continuing education classes, credit transfer eligibility is determined case-by-case.
• No Refund After Transfer: Once a transfer is confirmed, no refunds will be issued if I later cancel.
• Transfers to Others: My enrollment is non-transferable to another person without written approval from SCI.

• If I enroll in an in-person workshop, SCI will make every effort to deliver it in person.
• In rare cases, such as trainer illness, SCI may shift the course to an online format. No refunds will be given, but I may choose to transfer to a future in-person training at no extra cost.

I understand the following:

• There are no refunds for classes or workshops, but enrollment can be transferred one time at no extra cost to another workshop at Sierra Childbirth Institute (SCI) within 12 months of the cancellation date if cancellation is made by the student within 2 weeks of the start of the workshop. This no refund policy includes the rare circumstance in which SCI needs to reschedule the workshop to a later date. If SCI cancels the workshop, a full refund will be given.
 • If I request to transfer my attendance to an alternate date, my first transfer will be free of charge if requested within 2 weeks of the start of my class/workshop I'm currently enrolled in. For additional transfers or transfers requested outside of the 2-week period, there will be a 10% transfer fee for each transfer requested. Transfer credits will be good for one year from the date my original request was made.
• If I request to transfer my attendance to an alternate date, no partial refunds will be given if I transfer to a doula workshop that has a lower fee. Continuing ed class transfers are assessed case-by-case if credit can be given.
• If I request to transfer my attendance to an alternate workshop that has a higher tuition than the workshop I enrolled into, I will need to pay the additional tuition fee before the transfer can be made.
• If I request a transfer, once my enrollment transfer has been confirmed, no refunds will be given if I decide to cancel my spot.
• I am not able to transfer my spot in a workshop or class to any other person without written approval from SCI.
• If I choose to enroll in a workshop by paying a deposit, the full payment must be completed within 10 days of the workshop start date. After enrollment, I will receive an invoice via email detailing the payment amount and due date. If the full payment is not received by the due date, my spot in the workshop will be forfeited until the full payment is made. In such a case, I may attend a future workshop once my tuition is fully paid, subject to an additional $50 fee.
• I will receive an enrollment confirmation email once I have enrolled and paid for the workshop, confirming my secured space in the training.
• Under the rare situation that SCI needs to cancel or postpone a workshop, class, or event, I will be notified and offered alternative dates. If a workshop is cancelled or postponed, SCI will not be responsible for any fees incurred by the student for cancellations on accommodations or any other personal expenses.
• I will not, under any circumstances, issue or threaten to issue any charge-backs to SCI or to my credit card and/or form of payment (i.e. Stripe, Paypal, etc.) for any reason whatsoever. In the event of a charge-back, SCI reserves its right to report it to the credit bureaus as a delinquent account and not do business with me in the future.
• As a participant of this workshop, I agree to allow the teachers and staff at SCI to do the following:
• Take photographs of the workshop, which may include me, as well as allow the trainer to use these photographs for promotional purposes online and in print.
• Use quotes from my workshop evaluations (which I may fill out anonymously) for promotional purposes online and in print.

I also understand that:
• I may not record the whole or any part of the workshop (audio or video). I may take photographs only with the express permission of the trainer and the participants.
• I may not reproduce, publish, or distribute any materials in the workshop manual unless I leave the copyright printed on each page.
• I may not reproduce, publish, or distribute any materials from the certification packet, other than for the purpose of fulfilling my certification requirements (i.e., copying the evaluation forms for my clients to fill out).

This is a very rare occurrence, however, trainers do occasionally get ill, and we don't want to pass anything on to our students!

By enrolling in a class or workshop with Sierra Doula Academy (SDA), you acknowledge and agree to the following:

Tuition, Refunds & Cancellations

All classes and workshops are non-refundable.

If SDA cancels a workshop, a full refund will be issued. If SDA reschedules or postpones a workshop, refunds will not be provided; however, enrollment may be transferred in accordance with the transfer policy below.

SDA is not responsible for personal expenses incurred by participants, including travel, lodging, childcare, or related costs.

Enrollment Transfers

Participants may transfer their enrollment one time at no additional cost if the request is made at least 14 days before the workshop start date.

Transfer credit is valid for 12 months from the transfer request date

Additional transfers, or transfers requested within 14 days of the workshop start date, incur a 10% transfer fee per transfer

Once a transfer is confirmed, no refunds will be issued if the participant later cancels

Enrollment may not be transferred to another individual without written approval from SDA

If transferring to:

a lower-tuition workshop, no partial refunds are issued

a higher-tuition workshop, the tuition difference must be paid prior to transfer

Transfers for continuing education classes are assessed case by case.

Deposits & Payment Plans

A payment plan option may be available.

Participants may reserve their spot with a non-refundable deposit equal to 50% of tuition, which includes a small administrative fee. The remaining balance is due 10 days before the workshop start date.

An invoice with payment details will be emailed after enrollment.

If the balance is not paid by the due date:

the participant’s spot may be released

the deposit may be applied to a future workshop, subject to a $50 administrative fee, and in accordance with the transfer policy

Attendance & Completion

Full attendance is required to receive a certificate of attendance and/or CEUs.

Missed sessions or partial attendance cannot be made up

No refunds are issued for missed sessions

Missing any portion of a workshop may result in removal from the course

If removed due to absence:

participants may attend a future online workshop at no additional charge

in-person workshops must be retaken in full with full tuition payment

Intellectual Property & Recording

Recording (audio or video) of any portion of the workshop is not permitted.

Certification Disclaimer

This workshop is one component of DONA certification. Additional requirements must be completed independently to qualify for certification.

Media & Promotional Use

Format Changes
