I understand the following:

  • By enrolling in a class or workshop with Sierra Doula Academy (SDA), I understand and agree to the following:

    Communication and Confirmation
    • Confirmation Email: I will receive a confirmation email once my enrollment and payment are complete.

    Attendance Policy
    • Full Attendance Required: I must attend all sessions to receive a certificate of attendance. Partial attendance forfeits the certificate and/or CEUs.
    • No Make-ups or Refunds: Missed classes or portions of classes cannot be made up. No refunds will be issued for missed sessions.
    • If I miss part or all of an in-person class or workshop series, I will be dropped from the course and must attend a new course in full.
    o In such cases, I may re-attend via an online course at no additional charge.
    o If I wish to return to an in-person course, I must pay the full tuition again.

    Payment Policy
    • Deposit Enrollments: If I enroll with a deposit, full payment is due within 10 days of the workshop start date.
    • Payment Deadline: I will receive an invoice via email. If full payment is not received by the due date, my spot may be forfeited. I can re-enroll in a future workshop after completing payment, subject to a $50 reactivation fee.
    • If I register using the Early Bird discounted rate after the discount period has ended, SDA reserves the right to issue an invoice for the difference between the Early Bird rate and the full price. This balance must be paid in full prior to attending the event.

    Transfers and Fees
    • Free First Transfer: If I request a transfer within 2 weeks of my original class/workshop start date, my first transfer is free.
    • Additional Transfers or Late Requests: Additional transfers or those made outside the 2-week window are subject to a 10% transfer fee.
    • Transfer Credit Validity: All transfer credits are valid for 1 year from the date of the original request.
    • Tuition Differences:
    o If transferring to a workshop with higher tuition, I must pay the difference before the transfer is confirmed.
    o If transferring to a workshop with lower tuition, no partial refunds will be given.
    o For continuing education classes, credit transfer eligibility is determined case-by-case.
    • No Refund After Transfer: Once a transfer is confirmed, no refunds will be issued if I later cancel.
    • Transfers to Others: My enrollment is non-transferable to another person without written approval from SDA.

    Workshop Changes by SDA
    • In the rare case that SDA must cancel or postpone a class, I will be notified and offered alternative dates.
    • SDA is not responsible for any student-incurred expenses (e.g., travel, accommodations) related to cancellations or rescheduling.

    In-Person to Online Shift
    • If I enroll in an in-person workshop, SDA will make every effort to deliver it in person.
    • In rare cases, such as trainer illness, SDA may shift the course to an online format. No refunds will be given, but I may choose to transfer to a future in-person training at no extra cost.

    Refunds and Cancellations
    • No Refunds: SDA does not provide refunds for any classes or workshops.
    • One-Time Transfer Option: If I cancel my enrollment within 2 weeks of the workshop start date, I may transfer my enrollment once to another SDA workshop within 12 months at no extra cost.
    • Rescheduled Workshops: In the rare event SDA must reschedule a workshop, no refunds will be given, but I will be offered alternative dates.
    • SDA Cancellations: If SDA cancels a workshop, a full refund will be issued.
    Chargeback Policy
    • I agree not to initiate chargebacks for any reason. If a chargeback is issued, SDA reserves the right to report it to credit bureaus and refuse future services. 

    Photography and Testimonials
    • I grant SDA permission to:
    o Take photos during the workshop, which may include me, for use in online or print promotional materials.
    o Use anonymous quotes from my evaluations for marketing purposes.

    Workshop Conduct & Copyright
    • Recording: I may not record any portion of the workshop (audio or video).
    • Photos: I may take photos only with permission from the trainer and other participants.
    • Workshop Materials: I may not reproduce, publish, or distribute workshop manuals or certification packet materials, except as needed for certification (e.g., client evaluation forms). Copyright must remain on all materials.
    Certification Requirements
    • This course is only one step in the process of becoming a DONA Certified Doula. Further steps are required after the workshop.

    Certificate Replacement Requests
    • A $50 fee applies for reprinting and mailing a physical certificate of attendance. A $15 fee applies for a digital copy.
